How much does screening cost?+
$49.99 in most states. Some states cap the fee or limit it to the actual cost of the report, and a few (like Massachusetts) don't allow applicant-paid fees — there, the landlord covers it. You always see the exact amount before you pay.
Do I get the money back?+
If you're approved, the full fee is credited toward your first month's rent. If the unit is taken before your screening starts, or screening can't be completed, you're refunded. If you're not approved, you get your decision notice, the reason, and a copy of your report.
Who runs the screening?+
Checkr, Inc. (Checkr Tenant), a nationwide consumer reporting agency. After you pay, you confirm your identity on Checkr's secure page — it takes about 5 minutes and Blixxy never sees your Social Security number. The report covers credit, eviction history and identity verification.
Can I reuse my report?+
Yes. For 30 days your Blixxy screening report works on any Blixxy listing with no new fee. You confirm sharing it each time you apply.
Why can only one person apply at a time?+
So you never pay to apply for a unit that's already gone. The first applicant to finish screening holds the unit for a short window while the landlord decides; if it doesn't work out, the listing reopens automatically.
How are decisions made?+
Each listing publishes its requirements up front. Blixxy checks every applicant against the same requirements. Applicants who meet them all can be approved instantly; anything else goes to the landlord. AI never declines anyone.
Is my information safe?+
Reports and income documents are stored privately and shared only with the landlord you apply to. Blixxy never sells your information.
